In this episode of “Jotxs y Recuerdos,” Alexandra Nichole Vazquez interviews her mom, Nancy Gonzalez, about her journey as a queer Latina in the Rio Grande Valley. Specifically, her experiences of discrimination and dancing cumbia at 10th Avenue, a historic alternative (gay) bar that ran from 1987-2002. She also reflects on the acceptance and freedom she now feels, emphasizing the importance of love, patience, and community support.
